Rachel Singer Presents at Undergraduate Colloquium

Rachel Singer is a freshman in the College studying Medieval European History with a special interest in Wales and the Welsh language. She got interested in medieval history by reading Shakespeare’s history plays, which made her want to find out more about the real events Shakespeare portrays.

At the Undergraduate Colloquium, Rachel presented a paper comparing Gregory of Tours’ and Bede’s use and citation of sources. She argued that their use was tied to their different backgrounds and reflects the wider trends of medieval historiography.

Rachel’s next steps in her academic journey is to learn Latin and apply to study abroad programs. She also won one of the two 2019 Global Medieval Studies Travel Awards.
