The Deiphira Project

The Deiphira Project is an international scholarly collaboration to transcribe, translate, and study one manuscript of the Deiphira, Leon Battista Alberti’s treatise on love, housed at Harvard’s Houghton library. This recorded webinar, which features our own Dr. Francesco Ciabattoni and Visiting Researcher Dr. Laura Morreale, introduces The Deiphira Project, speaks to the tools and methods employed to build the professionally diverse digital undertaking, outlines the project’s traditional and computer-enabled scholarly products, and articulates the digital ethos that aims to amplify rather than replace traditional forms of research and engagement. The final project, now housed at Georgetown University’s Department of Italian and Global Medieval Studies Program, illustrates how scholars can capitalize upon the many sources available via the online medium. A discussion with audience members follows the presentation.
