Elena Brizio

I have published on the political, institutional and legal history of the Sienese Trecento; more recently I have focused – and published – on women’s history.

My research interests focus on the legal, social, familial and economic activities of Early Modern Sienese women, in the period of time between the 1450s to the 1570s, which is a decade after the annexation of Siena to the Duchy of Florence that occurred in 1559.

I am curious and enthusiast about every archival discovery, and keen to develop any new and interesting projects that cross my path.
